K-12 teachers and administrators will benefit by learning how to implement learning strategies in gender-friendly school environments that meet the diverse needs of boys and girls.
Implementing Learning Strategies in Gender-Friendly Classrooms is designed to provide educators with current research on how learning occurs and what learning strategies are most effective. Participants will come to know the research on how the brain learns and retains information, which learning strategies are most effective, and how girls and boys learn differently. They will understand how those gender differences impact learning and school behaviors.
Participants will learn effective strategies that can be implemented into classroom instruction immediately. Other factors that relate to gender differences will be addressed, including:
• Work space
• Physical acts and aggression at school
• Literature selections
• Lighting in the classroom
• Multi-sensory differences that impact student performance
• Rest states of the brain that affect attention
• Active engagement in learning
• Grading practices that provide for success
• Use of spatial and graphic aids
• Concept of teams and competition
• Exercise and athletics
• Relationship Building
